REVERSE MORTGAGES, Rockingham & Jurien Bay, Western AustraliaGet a Solicitor Certificate and access the value in your home without selling it.
Independent legal advice for Australians aged 55 and over considering a reverse mortgage.
What is a reverse mortgage?
A reverse mortgage is a type of loan available to homeowners aged 55 and over that lets you borrow money using your home as security without making regular repayments.
Instead of paying the bank each month, the loan is repaid later, usually when the house is sold, you move into care, or you pass away. The bank takes its share from the sale proceeds first, and whatever remains goes to you or your beneficiaries.
It can be a practical way to access money in retirement, but the banks require a Solicitor Certificate to be be approved.
Michelle will work with you to understand what you’re agreeing to before you sign anything, and if you go ahead, will provide you with a Solicitor Certificate.
Who it's for

(What you need to understand first)A reverse mortgage can be
the right decision but only if you go in with a clear picture of the risks:
The loan grows over time
Interest is added to the loan balance, not paid monthly. Over time this can add up significantly.
It affects what you leave behind
The more you borrow, the less remains for your family when the property is eventually sold.
Your obligations continue
You're still responsible for paying rates, insurance, and maintaining the property throughout the life of the loan.
Moving out triggers repayment
If you move into aged care or sell the property, the loan becomes repayable at that point.
Getting independent legal advice before signing is not just recommended, for most lenders, it's required.
